Dumbfounded… with Taiyo no Ko “Gift of Fire”
I’ve seen Taiyo no Ko “Gift of Fire” on tv last year. Off course because of Haruma.
T’was a very painful experience watching Haruma’s scenes evoking “good bye” and ending of his own life... At that time, inconsistency of the details of Haruma’s untimely, unacceptable demise was not yet that exposed. Hence almost everyone was swallowed by the released information that Haruma committed suicide. Watching Taiyo no Ko was overwhelming.
Focused on Haruma, I did not mind much about the gist of the whole story, though I understand that it was all about the feat of Japanese scientists in fighting the race with the US in creating Atomic Bomb.
Watching again Taiyo no Ko on movie screen was another kind of heart wrenching experience. Though Haruma’s scenes was not that many, but every scene and angles, and lines was precious. I know, like me everyone in the theater was keeping their sobs as silent as possible, and just letting those tears fall on their cheeks.
Still, it is so hard to accept the fact that Haruma is no more... If we could only bring Haruma back...
On the other point, watching Taiyo no Ko this time around, open up my mind to a deeper insight that probably not many of us realize.
Straight and blatant I will say... in all my life it got me clinched fist grasping the knowledge of the evil of the tease of “science”... Einstein’s E=mc2 was an evil formula ... it’s a formula that could lead to the extinction of the human race. It is the formula that killed thousands of lives in split seconds.
And I was so astounded with the simplest fact I learned that day watching Taiyo no Ko… that…
The Japanese scientists was trying all their best in creating their own E=mc2 Atomic Bomb in trying to win the race with America and Europe … and in the objective of changing the world as they believe how… through taking hold of the greatest source of “Energy” or “Power” …
And … sorry to say ….
The simplest fact that really caught me was that…
The Japanese Scientists , consisting of very few people including a college student … was trying to create Atomic Bomb with really NO DEFINITE ACCOUNTED SOURCE OF MATERIALS…
They were only depending on the meager ingredients of sulfur they can get from a Potter in a province in Kyoto … to make their research working …
This was the most dumbfounding Trivia I learned from Taiyo no Ko…
But though there’s much that I want to convey of the evil of the pursuit of science.
Taiyo no Ko, is a great movie…
Deserving to receive an international acclamation… hoping it will…
